This grand farming estate was once the ancient residence of the Bishop of Arezzo and the farmhouses which make up the estate were originally the homes of tenants who farmed the land.

Il Pantano is ideally placed to visit some of Tuscany's most famous attractions and it is also a good base from which to visit the region's prized vineyards and taste their wines, such as the locally produced Brunello and Vino Nobile (produced on the Il Pantano estate), between them winners of numerous prestigious wine accolades.

The apartments at Il Pantano are of various sizes and have maintained the traditional country feel of the farmhouses in which they are found. Each has a kitchen living room area with fireplace, bathroom with shower and independent heating.

Linking the various properties are nature trails perfect for appreciating the beautiful local countryside and along which the careful and quiet walker can meet hares, pheasants and roe deer.

Each farmhouse has its own swimming pool, set among cypress and olives and offering rest and relaxation.

The Il Pantano estate is found among gentle rolling green hills in the Val di Chiana and Val d'Orcia area of Tuscany, not far from the picturesque towns of Montepulciano (3km), Siena, Cortona (25km) and Montalcino.

Among the best known of these is Siena, famous for the Il Palio horse race held twice a year in the town and a magnet for Italians and foreign tourists alike. The town offers much more than this though and to many is best appreciated when the Palio is not clogging up the beautiful medieval piazza at the heart of the town.

Steep narrow streets and five miles of town walls seem to protect this Italian gem of a town, ensuring that its many wonderful treasures, history and architecture remain safeguarded.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS

There are nine apartments on this estate found in three separate farmhouses.

The largest apartment sleeps eight people comfortably in three double bedrooms and one twin. There is a double sofa bed in the living room to make the total number of guests possible 10. There are three bathrooms with shower and a fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher, cooker, fridge freezer, toaster, coffee machine and kettle, as well as plenty of space outdoors and a communal laundry.

Several slightly smaller apartments are also available, sleeping four people in two bedrooms (one double and one twin) and again with a double sofa bed available, There is a kitchen corner and bathroom with shower.

The smallest apartment available is ideal for two guests, with one double bedroom, a double sofa bed in the living room and kitchen area. One bathroom with shower.

As these properties are found on a working farm making wine and olive oil guests are welcome to come and taste both products with the owners.

Small pets are welcome.
